Bethan Thomas sourcing jasmine tea in China

Jasmine Tea Fields in China

Growing up in Birmingham in the 1980s, I developed a real taste for KFC and all you can eat Chinese buffets.  I can’t quite place my finger on when this changed, but I think it happened on the night that two of my friends were sick of Elvet Bridge in Durham after an intensely competitive ice cream eating challenge at Wingwah’s Chinese buffet.

Since this unfortunate incident, my culinary world has broadened and after several years in China and South Korea I now work in the tea trade and most of the pleasure I derive in life is linked to food, travel and cooking.

I hope that this blog can entertain you as well as give me an outlet for my ramblings and love of obscure foods from amazing places.

I’m well impressed. And for once I actually mean that.
